Operating Logs

Concepts & Definitions

Operating logs record the usage history of an asset — tracking when it was in operation, for how long, and any meter readings captured during each operating period. This data feeds into usage-based maintenance schedules (where maintenance is triggered by hours run, kilometres driven, or cycles completed) and provides an audit trail for asset utilisation analysis.

TermDefinition
Start TimeThe date and time the asset’s operating period began
End TimeThe date and time the operating period ended
Run LengthThe computed duration of the operating period (End Time minus Start Time)
Meter ReadingsUsage values recorded at the end of the period — e.g. odometer reading, machine hours, cycle count

How To

Record an Operating Log

Navigate to Admin → Asset Management → Operating Logs.

Screenshot: Operating Logs list view
  1. Click New.
  2. Select the Asset (only assets with a Running status are available).
  3. Set the Start Time and End Time of the operating period.
  4. Add a Description if needed.
  5. On the Meter Readings sub-tab, enter the usage readings captured at the end of the period (e.g. odometer reading, operating hours).
  6. Click Save, then Approve to confirm the log entry.

Approved operating logs update the meter readings used by usage-based maintenance schedules to determine when the next maintenance interval falls due.
